Landscape in Greenland   North and Central America is the continent with the most islands in the top 10 by extension of the world, four versus three in Asia and one each by Africa, Europe and Oceania.

In North America there is the largest island on the planet, Greenland, the only one with an area over one million square kilometers; the other three islands in the top ten of the planet are all in Canada, a country that includes 9 islands in the top 34 positions of this ranking.

In the continental list, more than 2/3 of the islands (26 out of 36) belong to Canada, while the United States has 5, but all in low positions; then we find 4 Caribbean islands, all in the Greater Antilles, Cuba and Hispaniola in 6th and 7th place, the only two with at least 10 million inhabitants, also because most of the other islands are located in latitudes less favorable to human population.
