Colombia has an incredible variety of environments, from islands and beaches on the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, to high mountains that exceed 5,000 meters, passing from rich and historic colonial cities to lush forests, but also desert areas.
Cities such as Cartagena or Villa de Leyva show their colonial past well; you can then visit interesting religious buildings, such as the splendid Las Lajas Sanctuary in Ipiales.
But it is perhaps from an environmental point of view that the country shows its best, with the Tatacoa Desert, the Caño Cristales, known as the river of five colors, the Páramo de Ocetá with its surprising nature, or the island of San Andrés in the Caribbean Sea, with its beautiful azure waters.
