New York and Mexico City have been competing for several years for the title of the largest city in North and Central America, with New York currently leading when considering the entire metropolitan area, while the Mexican capital ranks first when only city limits are taken into account.Los Angeles is the only other city to exceed 10 million inhabitants, always taking into account the urban agglomeration; 65% of the cities in the ranking are located in the United States of America, which is the most populated country on this continent.
Mexico and Canada, the other two most important countries of North and Central America, are present with some cities; some capitals of the most populous remaining nations complete the ranking.
